IntelaTrac is structured around four components - software, hardware, secure wireless infrastructure, and RFID technology.

  • Software:  IntelaTrac software solution consists of four primary components:
    • Software that runs on handheld devices running Microsoft Windows Mobile,
    • An enterprise level task management, workflow, and scheduling engine,
    • A suite of workforce management, supervisory, and reporting applications and
    • An integration framework and Web Services API for connecting field workers and data with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Decision Support Systems.
  • Hardware: The hardware component primarily consists of mobile computing devices and other peripheral devices that augment the computing device.  IntelaTrac enterprise software operates on many different mobile computing device that include ruggedized pen-based computers, Pocket PC devices, or industrial-grade mobile devices for hazardous locations. IntelaTrac solution is supported on ruggedized Intermec and Motorola (formerly Symbol Technologies) devices, as well as, a number of lower cost commercial and enterprise PDA’s.  IntelaTrac also utilizes a variety of industry-standard peripherals, such as temperature guns and vibration probes that are integrated (via Bluetooth) with the mobile computing devices to seamlessly transfer data directly into IntelaTrac software for automated data collection.
  • Wireless Infrastructure:  Companies that want to maximize productivity, increase flexibility, and enable real-time decision making by maintenance technicians and plant operations personnel typically install a Wireless LAN (WLAN) to augment their traditional wired LAN.  IntelaTrac’s wireless infrastructure includes a back end software mobile manager module that communicates with the wireless devices on the field.  IntelaTrac supports industry standard WLAN and Mesh technology. SAT has also created a network software architecture design to maximize wireless security and remote device management which has been approved by most of the major global energy company’s IT Security and Controls Organizations as a best practice. This technology maximizes productivity and flexibility, enables real-time decision-making capabilities for remote workers, and enhances the functionality of mobile computing devices. SAT provides a broad spectrum of wireless network hardware components from leading technology providers (e.g. Motorola and Cisco) and supports IEEE industry standards.
  • Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology: SAT has also developed and patented the defacto industry standard for serialized asset tagging and automatic identification using RFID technology.  As plant workers perform equipment or regulatory compliance inspections, RFID tags helps them identify assets and functional locations.  Also, the RFID tags enable verification and validation that field workers are at the right location when collecting critical data.  RFID technology is also a superior asset tagging technology for tracking equipment in harsh environments and when equipment is relocated during its useful life.  However, the IntelaTrac software also supports traditional bar-code technology when data collection is deemed less critical or is deployed within indoor environments.
